Tatty Petals Poem by Susy Evelyne

Tatty Petals

Rating: 5.0

Tatty petals and leaves lie on a lawn.
Rag-tag soul-mates, thrown together
By the gusts of autumn.

A little bird’s downy feather
Has got mixed up in there too;
And one crimson heart
Lost by a rose.

Snapshot of the world, I think:
Love among the chaos.

I love the way you have described so richly such a simple scene. I used to spend hours photographing wild flowers and insects, and I never stopped being amazed how nature flings together incredible pieces of art. All we have to do is slow down and notice them. Your poem is a lovely reminder for us all to take notice. The last two lines add even more depth to the poem. You've excelled at saying so much with so few words.

Let's just hope that love outweighs the chaos eh? Nice poem.
