Taster's Ecstacy Poem by connie crane

Taster's Ecstacy

Strong coffee
Warm scone
Intense flavor
Balanced by mellow one
Coffee, organic from Guatemala
Scone, lightly flavored with cranberry and orange.

And I the taster,
Savoring the contrast.
Savoring each moment of mouth watering scone
Alternating with hot rich liquid almost to bold to be borne.
Taste of harshness,
Tempered by sweetness
My palate soars.

Was there ever a moment better than this one.
This simple pleasure.
This tasters ecstasy.
In this moment, this cup, this bread I give to me.
I am loved.

Taste is only the moment undone When Sight of the pleasures to come Harkens the senses to be aware That there is much more lurking there. The Aroma wafting in the air Catches the senses, if they dare To try and understand what is to be Of the pleasures blowing free. Yet the sensation of the cup Warm (not to hot to sup) As the embrace of the moment Suggest, yet warns of the content. Even the Tinkling of the spoon a stirring In the heap of whipped cream its bearing Suggest the treat that must wait For the moment that bud's celebrate. Then finally in a moment There's fulfillment Of all the pleasures of Taste Which must be enjoyed, but not in haste. s
