Take It Poem by Hunter Hawley

Take It

You can work a lifetime
Blood, sweat, and tears
Chasing a better future
Running from your fears

But the chase will never end
And the fears you'll never shake
If you don't have the willingness
To reach in front and take

I've been down this road
A time or two at least
With my dreams right in front of me
I become another's feast

It feels quite silly now
To see just where I stumble
Right next to the prize
I lost to being humble

And humble's not a bad thing
Please don't get me wrong
But it can hold you back
Even if your are strong

And strong I have always been
The best one on the floor
But I didn't go and take it
Even though I wanted more

And I am left wanting more
Because I couldn't take
I never thought I'd say it
I'm too nice for Gods sake

And God has filled me in
Shown me the way
Shown me that for tomorrow
You have to take today
