Swim Together In The Pool

Life is slipping off the walls
as the waterproof clock falls off,
and clatters to the floor,
sinking in the pool
of leaves and algae and dirty money
from one of my horrible dreams
my top-water friends still haven’t come
to save me.
Things are slipping out of my hands
I feel for a way in the gloom
there’s no place to breath
no place to hope,
my friends are ignorant of their ruin.
I pray someday as they smile on top,
they’ll reach down a hand and
take my advice
so I don’t drown in these miserable truths
or they’ll just find the way themselves
so we can swim together in the pool.

If I should die, think only this of me:
