Sweet Jamaica Poem by Erika Heslop Martin

Sweet Jamaica

Sweet Jamaica, the land of my birth,
A tiny speck on this earth.
An island surrounded by the Caribbean Sea.
The place for the best vacations.
A land of fertility and reality,
With golden sunshine that brightens up the heart of its people.

Sweet Jamaica,
Famous for its mountainous mountains, white-sand beaches,
Rhythmic reggae music, fast athletes and creative people.
Sweet Jamaica,
Known for its sumptuous and delicious foods like:
The “Ackee and Salt fish with Breadfruit, ”
“Escoveitch fish with Bammies and Fried plantains,
Jerk chicken with Rice and Peas.”
Sweet Jamaica,
Known for its irresistible mineral baths,
Memorable historical ruins, magnetic tourist resorts,
Bauxite industry and the enriched lands that bring forth healthy crops.

Sweet Jamaica,
Out of many one people,
Black, green and gold,
Many stories untold,
Sometimes rough and tough,
But with God in the midst life can be great in little JA.
So, how can I neglect sweet Jamaica my paradise home?
