Survival Poem by Pete Shilling

Survival

Rating: 4.5

As a child,
We Were taught,
Not to give,
Ourselves a thought,
And not to show,
Love...devotion,
Or any other,
'Weak' emotion,
Such a crazy,
Misconception,
Foolish...poor,
Interpretation,
The weakness is in hate,
In greed,
Planted like,
A poisoned seed,
Love gives us strength,
And feeds our soul,
It makes us one,
It keeps us whole,
A new beginning,
This dawn's arrival,
The only way,
For mans survival.

An insightful piece of poetry depicting man inhumanity to man, with a clarion call for universal brotherhood of man. Besides love being the divinely ordained function of the heart, it the highest level of human civilization. A well articulated piece of poetry nicely penned with conviction. Thanks for sharing. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON.
