Surrogate Mother And Child Poem by Dela Bobobee

Surrogate Mother And Child

Rating: 5.0

With what maternal feelings
do I link your other siblings
who suckled this same breast
but now other arms found rest?

To bring joy to homes famished
my wet bosom you are banished
but you will remain in my mind
I pray good foster may you find

in the Underground Railroad days
when sad family ties parted rays
passages of uncertainties dimmed
this same stubborn hope beamed

how deep is my love in maternity
this swap to connect in paternity?
doubt not my deep maternal instinct
in the need of material turned extinct

to nurture your sisters who may starve
farewell, a new niche you must carve
if in selflessness I may now fall short
virtue out of necessity I take as fort.

I found this write unbelievable beautiful, both in form, imagery and theme. What a fantastic thing to do, to carry and nurture a life inside for nine months, for someone else. Surrogate mothers deserve the highest form of praise. I also found this as educational as I found it deeply moving. Thank you so much for penning this so masterfully.

Dedication: I dedicate this poem to all surrogate mothers who have brought joy to otherwise childless couples. During the slave trade era, selected female and male slaves were forced to bear children they own no emotional attachment to in order to swell the workforce of their masters. Thank God, today the case is voluntary to bring happiness to childless homes. Society understands if virtue is made out of necessity. Dela Bobobee©
