Supreme Court May Decide Poem by Donal Mahoney

Supreme Court May Decide

Clara A. Jackson
of Centreville, Illinois
has been charged
with first-degree murder
in the drowning of
her newborn son
in a bathroom toilet,
according to a report
in a St. Louis newspaper.

Ms. Jackson is accused
of attempting to conceal
the death of her son
by throwing his body out
a second-floor window
onto a brush pile.

A defense attorney
has yet to be named
but may decide to claim
the case is nothing more
than a late-term abortion.
Harder to defend may be
the wanton act of littering.
