Super Technology Poem by Sharad Chandra

Super Technology

Now that we have super technology
norms of becoming a parent
like everything else
have changed
a woman does not attain motherhood
nor a man father his offspring
his sperm can freely and independently
be handled by others
like any other commercial item
she becomes a mother
without going through the hassles of
conceiving, carrying, going
into the labours of childbirth
eggs can now be frozen stored
for a more opportune moment
wombs hired sperm purchased
to suit your mood and convenience
children are no longer god’s wish
they have become products
of human dexterity and imagination.
Sex wanton or unwanton
can now be enjoyed unhindered
by deadly fears of its natural outcome

freedom is the watchword
of our times
free sex children free parenthood too is free
everything in man’s own hands
no unintelligible divine intervention
the uncertain
biological activity of reproduction
has now become
a viable marketable item
a commodity, a commercial service
a simple question
of demand and delivery.
