Sunshine Poem by Hazel Durham

Sunshine

Rating: 5.0

Through the window the land spreads out before my eyes,
Overlooking is hazy, watery duck egg blue skies,
In our kitchen on the table there is cooling cherry topped pies,
My husband is playing the piano, soulful tunes that makes me cry,
For the loss of my beloved mum my best chum,
She cared for me in my destructive years,
When I had lost my soul because of all my fears,
My mum had held me close and her loving words that turned fears into cheers,
With my introverted personality, mum reminded me of my younger years,
When I was the sunshine of her life,
I was always smiling, laughing like jumping with joy on a trampoline,
I was a heartbeat so keen,
With my innocent blue eyes that had danced with zest,
My mum's warmth gave me strength
To try and climb every high mountain just a daily test,
Mum made me feel like a precious butterfly
She set me free in blue etched skies,
She was my caring and beautiful guide every step of my troubled way,
As I smile at my memories of my angel
My mum's soul is the sun shining every day.

There is none who can replace a mother! Her love is infinite! As you believe, she must be raining down radiance from above to light your paths! I can see a beautiful mother- daughter relationship in every line of this poem! Enjoyed this great tribute to your mother, Hazel!

Usually the poets compare a father with the sun, but the poetess sees a sun in her mother. Sun that lightens the way and is essential for the life. This shows how important her mother was for her. Now she is no more. But the every day reminds her the warmth of her mother. Music adds fuel to the fire of human sentiments and so did her husband playing a tune on the piano. An impressive poem is it.........................10

This poem is written with such warmth and gentle sentiments, as only the innocence and beauty of childhood memories can deeply touch one's heart. Harmonious imagery envelop the poem in a sweet nostalgia. A lovely tribute to your mother.

I have only been on here for six months, in that time I have noticed that all my favorite poets, have written a q about their mother. The love between mother and child is immeasurable. This relationship is our basis for everything we do and even what we don't do.Even in death they speak to us, guide us and comfort us. How lucky is the child, who has a mother. Sorry for the lengthy comment. Hazel, loved your write, beautiful!
