Sunset Kiss Poem by Nancy Crossman

Sunset Kiss

Two shadows play across the sand
On the deserted beach
Still warm from the sinking crimson sun!
The two lovers stroll along
Completely enamoured
After a lifetime together!
Her tiny fingers disappears
Inside his big calloused hand, as
In ear-splitting tones
Their voices shatter
The stillness of the salty air…
Hearing aids on the fritz!
In a gentle voice he yells at her.
All but screaming, she yells back at him!
Sharing heart warming memories of life
Richly carved out of enduring love,
They speak of children, grandchildren
And the blessings they’ve enjoyed together.
In the shadows, near a gnarled old tree
Dry and brittle, yet somehow, like them, defiant
Against the ravages of time
They pause to share a warm embrace.
And their sunset kiss is one of mutual adoration,
Everlasting friendship, and souls
Destined to be together forever!
