Summer Rain Poem by Kelsy Haveling

Summer Rain

the rain falls
hurtling, tumbling, trickling
the anguished wind calls
like the sob of a changeling
and the Summer Sky above, silent

warm cement suddenly damp
heavy smell, summer smell
sliding along a sputtering lamp
like the past, like happiness spent
and the Summer Sky above, scentless

wet cheeks, crying without tears
hearts reflecting the heavens
the pound of feet, a host of fears
creatures scurry back to their dens
and the Summer Sky above, soulless
