Summer Love Poem by Leah Jackson

Summer Love

That summer love
The one I let get away.
The one who even now
Though I am happy,
Makes me ache
Makes me wish that I could
Could go back to more simple times
When laughter slowed freely
When kisses were sweet
The time when innocence makes you pure
The time before
When your heart was easy to mend
Before the bitterness sets in
The time before love was lost
Moved to only friendship
That part of me aches for him
But it won't be
He and I have moved on
Past that summer love
When innocence ruled
And dreams of holding eachother in the rain
Those were easy to achieve
Somedays are harder then others
The pain of losing the innocence fresh and raw
Esspecially when he is with someone else
Someday, maybe, we'll get it back.
Someday, I'll get you back.
That lost summer love
