Stretch And Stretch Common Man! Poem by Somanathan Iyer

Stretch And Stretch Common Man!

Stretch and stretch common man till you breathe your last in life
Stretch for the Taxes stretch for the price rise
Stretch for the powerful stretch for the dependents
Stretch for your survival but stretch with a smile!

Stretching is not new learn from our leaders
Very little your stretch compared to theirs
For they stretch to any length to keep them swindling
Stooping to any level in grabbing their targets

Crooked rulers with rusted visions
Play the games of political appeasement
Power they crave for, never the welfare
Promise everything for procuring the power

Blaming each other to conceal their follies
Granting everything for creating vote banks
Showing no sense to the drained up coffers
Open the floodgates for endless gloom

Millions and Trillions going for the dumps
In honoring the schemes of thoughtless brains
Draining the coffers for keeping up the promises
Routing a lion's share in swelling their Bank balance

Power of money losing its shine
By paying more to live a common's life
Raising prices and stagnant earnings
Adding to the woes of common man

By citing the demon of inflation life of commons deflated
Recession shown in foreign lands raise the prices in our land
Scarcity of supply & alacrity in demand
Paving the way for never ending anarchy

Toothless laws and spineless leaders
Fail to proclaim peoples' plights
Traders prompting black markets
Hoarders feasting on our sufferings

Stretch and stretch common man till you breathe your last in life
