Strange Paradox Poem by Sandra Feldman

Strange Paradox

Rating: 5.0

We need one another,
Yet we go around,
Killing each other,
Or destroying ourselves,
Strange Life, that reaches for the Stars,
That so desires to be blessed,
Yet has to be content with so much less.

STRANGE LIFE... HAS TO BE CONTENT WITH SO MUCH LESS. That line could be used by a philosopher in describing why so many people are not happy, or a therapist explaining to his patient why she keeps going from one relationship to another. Your poem actually hides several ways to overcome this dilemma of paradox - one is to sincerely seek, find hopefully and cherish that other person who can take you out of your funk and make you cherish him/her. Also, the image of REACHING FOR THE STARS - that means transcending your egoism, leaving behind that comfortable self-centeredness for something much bigger than just ME. Your poem provokes these thoughts, they're inescapable - once you've read the poem!

You have beautifully condensed the strange paradoxes of life..... hands that should foster life, come to destroy life and when we aim for the stars of victory, we fall into the nadir of defeat!
