Stormy Skies Poem by Pete Rivera

Stormy Skies

The light that shrouds
My inner soul
Delves within me
And takes control

Who I am
Is nothing more
Than a broken shell
On an empty shore

But I will continue
To fight for you
And I will continue
To hold on to the truth
And my heart conjures words
That my mouth dare to speak
But this time now
The wicked enshroud the meek

When I may watch you go
Upon the stormy skies
Like the wind to the willow
It's the lies that you despise

But hear me now
I would never let you down
But it's the way you doubt
That keeps me around

But I will continue
To fight for you
And I will continue
To hold on to the truth
And my heart conjures words
That my mouth dare to speak
But this time now
The wicked enshroud the meek
