Stone Carvers Lament Poem by Rick Elpers

Stone Carvers Lament

She reads me as if
Her power beyond the stillness
Were impenetrable
Keeping secrets hidden
To expose my weakness
Before hers
Her stoicism beguiles me
To the point of striking her
Repeatedly hammering away
To sharpen her outlook
To bend her will
To mine
