Stirrings Poem by Ed_ Schmidt

Stirrings

Leaves of trees
blanket my bed
A silly old alleycat
keeps watch at my head

These things of nature
a mothers fond child
One chose their own course
wayward and wild

Forsaking the fortune
I´ve given to life
Replacing with darkness
pollution and strife

I send them warnings
they don´t heed or care
Destroying my children
for the public welfare

I stir and storms
sweep in from the sea
Frown and my wrinkles
cause many to flee

Please heed my message
I pray you will hear
Dreams of destruction
my waking draws near

Soon I will strike
no choice to be had
One out of many
their story most sad

Create a companion
my bounty bestow
Instead bringing heartache
man makes me his foe
