Still In This Poem by Bill Hallsworthy

Still In This

Passers by watch my expressions,
recognizing failure, creating a connection,
sad stories told, sounds familiar,
when it unfolds, the reply is something similar,
influential individuals, follow my lead,
fueling hate, as I'm fueling greed,
don't be afraid, don't be cautious,
I am still strong, I am still in this,
old addictions come rising back,
I now smoke until I'm fat,
human emotions, packed away,
fill the air, blacken the day,
normal thoughts are just a dream,
recalling depressing lyrics as I scream,
faithless and fearful, I've found a friend,
in worthless scribbles, from my pen.
