Still In Love Poem by Jay Brown

Still In Love

I see that you have moved on
From what we used to have.
All of our treasured memories
Have become part of your past.
Erased from your memory
Like they never existed to begin with.
All of our precious pictures
That once hung upon your walls
Are now collecting dust in a tattered cardboard box,
And all the love we once shared
Has ran out on your part and no longer can be traced.
Yes it's true you've moved on
While I'm still stuck in park
Pleading with God
that you'll return again,
And love me like you did before.
And I keep my faith in us.
Although everyone says it's not going to happen
Because you've met a good girl and she makes you happy.
There's something in her you can see that you couldn't in me.
You smile when you're with her, the smile I used to see,
And she stands where I used to be where I SHOULD be,
Head against your warm chest, wrapped in your strong arms.
I want to be happy for you
But I can't because
It hurts me so much to see you with her
Because I just can't stomach the thought
of you being with someone
who doesn't love you as much as I do.
And I pray that one day you'll realize
How important you are to me.
But until then I wonder
What if I told you that every day I think of you,
And That I sometimes pretend you're with me
So that my broken heart wont bleed.
And that you are my world
And I care for you more than I can explain.
What if I told you that I love you?
Would that change a thing?
Would it make you think of me?
even for a second
