Still I Rise Poem by Rubaba Mmahajia Rahma Sabtiu

Still I Rise

Rating: 5.0

I sail through this ocean in which you threw me
I gallop like a cheetah on this land in which you buried me
I spring out from this volcano in which you roasted me
I run like Usain Bolt through this dense forest where you got me lost
I crack the earth like an earthquake just so I could rise
Away from you I am driven
Yet to you I still come
My voice you shut with your shot
Yet like thunder I still shout
Let the world keep mute
For the echoes of my moaning and murmuring
To the ears they must travel
These words must be spoken soundly and clearly too
Even as you tie me to Jupiter
As you whip me with trunks
Still I break free
These letters nudge at my heart
The pain is unbearable
Because they have been silenced
So still I rise
From this light, from this darkness
From this narrowness, from this vastness
From this shallowness, from this deeper part
Still I rise
I rise
I rise to speak these letters
To act it if you would allow me
Nothing can stop me I warn you
I is one of these letters
So is love and you
Still I rise
I rise to tell you these
I love you
And He who taught me this is my Love
I rise

You are a gem of a Muslimah and I am proud of you. Your family should be proud of you esp your parents for you have emerged a jewel. I envy your (Potential) hubby and I know your kids will be proud to have a mum like you. Salaams! ! ! !
