Still Absent From Your Eyes Poem by Alfred Ramos

Still Absent From Your Eyes

Co-written with Caryn Hull

Am I seeing a distant thought
hiding in disguise?
How do I bring you back from that look
still absent from your eyes?

Your eyes stare into a distant space
looking at nothing
Yet there is depth and recognition in your face
signifying something

Once there was a rapture in plain view
Radiance shining through azure skies
I just don't understand how a tear or two
Can still be absent from your eyes

Where is the joy that once held me captive
underneath the spell you cast?
There is no logical reason or motive
to completely dismiss our love and our past

Do we erase every moment as if it was a dream
Having to wake up to a body of lies
Do you have some hidden scheme
That will always be absent from your eyes

I stand before you to pledge truthfully
And it shouldn’t come as a surprise
Just look deep into my heart, what you’ll see
Will never be absent from my eyes
