Sticks And Stones Poem by Kathryn Kubacki

Sticks And Stones

You beat me down
Not with fists,
But with words
I cannot run
There is too much hurt

I try to push through
No one can see
Lock it away
Remain with you,
This prison for me

Still I try
Lessons to be learned
But still for freedom
I have yearned
Freedom taken, never returned

Release your grasp
Unfurl your fists
Say your sorries
Walk away
You will not be missed

Sticks and stones
Break my bones
But your words,
They hurt much more
