Stench Poem by Theodora (Theo) Onken

Stench

Rating: 3.5

Living in such a hateful world
Where storms are more prevalent than sun
Where inflicting pain - brings on the cold rain
Where despair outweighs joy when day is done

Where beautiful aromatic breezes once flowed
Where now the smell is very bad
Where cowards and sadists inflict their damage
Where happiness is turned to sad

Where greed has shown it's ugly head
Where substance abuse ruins many lives
Where goodness, kindness, and mercy have gone missing
Where too many innocents have died

Such troubling truths surround us today
As the cold north wind continues to blow
Wondering where all of the goodness has gone
What has happened to the world we used to know?

The cold rain continues to pour itself down
In floods destructive to our land
No fragrant breeze - and a nearing freeze
We're left with a stench we cannot stand
