Stays And Runaways Poem by Ted Sheridan

Stays And Runaways

Rating: 5.0

This old dog
has not one substantial leg left
on which to run
Neither to fight or chase
after his one true love
now that she’s gone___
This old dog
may be old but…
he is wise enough to know
that she will eventually
have to do what all old dogs do;
find her a good place to lie down….

Some, of course, return to the comfort of the kennel, and realise it is not a kennel at all. Poignant and effective Ted. t x
