Starting Over Poem by Pen Anthony

Starting Over

Rating: 3.5

for a long time she
stared at the woman
her full cheeks shone
under her heavy lidded
nut brown eyes
she remembered how
cronies teased saying
her eyes would steal their men.
Knowing it was she in the picture
made her feel sad.
Then the truth as told
by a mirror insulted the injury
she couldn't hold back
she let her welling eyes
have their way.
Bitter tears of regret
burnt as they slowly skiid
her cheeks, she knew it was
now or never.
She dried her eyes
and looked unto the
heavens
'father am done pleasing
men
accept me
and i will turn
over a new leaf
oh lord give me a
destination.
