Start To Finish Poem by Frederick Francis

Start To Finish

A casual glance that turned to more,
A smile never returned.
An un-pretentious playful thought
But your thought I could not discern.

Then one day you smiled back;
I cracked the shell I guess.
I would like to think it was my charm.
But it was the alcohol I confess.

Then some time passed by
You beauty was intimidating.
But eventually the day came,
When I just got tired of waiting.

With nothing to lose and shaky nerves
I called you up one night.
Much to my relief
You didn’t put up a fight.

As far as first impressions go,
You have it down to an art.
You were like no girl I had met before,
You weren’t afraid of being smart.

The movie was only background noise,
We talked that night for hours.
Your never ending brilliance
Only added to your seductive powers.

Your lips, your hair, your gorgeous eyes,
I find you so intoxicating.
Just one glance from those stunning eyes
And I’m practically levitating.

I took your hand at first,
Then started moving closer.
I tried to take things very slow.
To make sure it all was kosher.

I just could not resist,
I decided to go for broke,
Our eyes met and I kissed you;
My stomach was in my throat.

I hope I shook your world a little,
Because you absolutely rocked mine.
I wish I could describe how incredible you are,
But it is impossible to define.

What attracts me to you most,
Is your passion for all of life.
So I want to say I’ll be here for you,
Especially through the strife.
