Start Spreadin' The News Poem by Ramona Thompson

Start Spreadin' The News

A modern day parody of Frank Sinatra's classic New York, New York

Start spreadin' the news
I'm comin' out today
I want to come out of the closet
In New York, New York

These queer old shoes
Are longing for a place to stay
Gonna get right to the heart of it
In New York, New York

I want to wake up in a city that never hates or judges
And find that I'm queen of the hill
Top of the heap...

These homophobe blues
Are melting away
I'm gonna make a brand spanking new start of it

In old New York
If I can come out here
I can come out anywhere, everywhere
It's up to you
New York, New York

New York, New York
I want to wake up in a city that never judges or hates
And find I'm A number 1
Top of the list that all the hotties wanna kiss,
Queen of the hill,
A number 1...

There homophobe blues
Are melting away
I'm gonna make a brand spanking new start of it
In old New York

And if i can come there,
I can come out anywhere, everywhere
It's up to you
New York, New York
New York!
