Star (For Lyn) Poem by Dónall Dempsey

Star (For Lyn)

Rating: 5.0

Born under the stars
of the late 19th Century

she gasped in awe
as the 20th Century stars

revolved
about her head

wondering in her mind
if she would ever see

21st Century stars
glinting in her eyes

and yes
she almost makes it

but she leaves
just as the 21st century arrives

its stars searching everywhere
for the wonder of her

night after endless night.

I have a dear, dear friend who fits this bill so perfectly... She said she has gone from walking behind the rear end of a mule to seeing a man walk on the moon. What a lifespan it has been for her, and she just celebrated her 94th birthday! !
