Spring Snow Show Poem by Thomas Plotz

Spring Snow Show

The windmill have ended, their blaring arrival
Twirling down with a gust of wind
Tan, winged blades, flying in air
I’m sure the Wright brothers received the flaring idea of flight from,
Watching nature’s whirligigs in action, with satisfaction

Spinning down with a perfect helix, on a wind free day
With the hopes of one day, may take the place from where they came
When the right conditions are met,
With all the steps offset, needed for that small seed,
Yet nourishment, and sun is required, to become a tree

When twisted dry windmills
Land on a hard surface, you’re able to hear a shrilling
Dull tinging zing clatter sound, similar to a
Spoon chiming a tune, on a glass, at joyous celebrations

May 21 – the cottonwood cotton, started to fly
Soon the ground and sky, will be inundated
With the soft white, floating seed, puffs aloft

With honeysuckle, locus, and lilacs blooming adds
An unassuming dimension of scent
Wonderful time to just be,
Enjoying Tea, outside during the
Spring snow show

The tree cotton, will fly on the whirlwind
Puff seeds, ride the gentle breeze,
Rising higher than the trees
From where they came

With warm thermals, they will rise
They will rise, and with improvised movements
Turn and drift
From the slow winds changes
Commencing touches with a gentle hand of God

Then without notice, a cloud moves over
Cooling the air
Wowed, cotton puffs begin to fall
Now, just skimming the earth
Before making landfall, and being captured by the ground

The congregation has arrived bound with faith,
With tumbling and bundling of faithful cotton puffs,
Tumbling from the sky
Bunches together as amply as, two feet high
With more friends and family to follow,
Till the trees are bare of seeds, and the earth is full
With the spring snow,
Of cottonwood cotton
