The petunias are out in force
Heads nodding in nimble glee
They decorate the streets of Dubai in dappled splendour!
By the flyovers, beside the interchanges
On the medians, roundabouts and by footpaths
Why! Even the landscaped sweep of junctions
They gloriously carpet - these Morning Glories
Pink and purple in Jumeirah,
Red and white in Al Nahda,
More on the banks of the creek
And everywhere else one cares to look.
This year too, as always, the petunias gather all over the place
conspiring to give Dubaiians yet another flower decked Spring -
Once again a truly lavish miracle in the Arabian desert!
