Spread Wing Poem by Jonathan Strahan

Spread Wing

Some say hope floats
on a wing
on a prayer
dare i say
i'd like some to float my way
reserves are running low
to my souls inner sanctum is where i retreat
i emerge renewed, although...
the strength to make the journey is taking a higher toll
taking a tax out on my soul
fortunately my upbringing was priceless
steeling me with confidence against the world so fickle
love abounds
love still echoes
love astounds
trying to keep my feet on solid ground.
