Spiritual Family Poem by Janice Walkden

Spiritual Family

Sometimes I wonder
thinking about life
Why we are here
amongst the troubles and strife

Why there are wars
the hatred and fear
The suffering of others
and the ones we hold dear

I think to myself
what madness here lies
in this earthly sphere
it hurts my eyes

Then I see someone
lending a hand
to a complete stranger
and it wasn’t planned

Wasn’t done for reward
or any type of pay
a smile and a thanks
was enough to convey

The brotherhood of man
Is still going strong
Its our spiritual family
to which we all belong

It doesn’t matter
about our colour or creed
or even our faith
when we help another in need
