Spirit Georgia

Somewhere in the haze of forgotten days
my spirit Georgia waits
you were my love back when I had nothing
and you're still my love today
Georgia forgets the river's next bend
but I'll never forget you, My Love
wherever in the world I'll be your baby bird
and you'll be my spirit Georgia

You'll show me a heart that we can call ours
and a home that never gets cold
you'll show me the peace without breaking me
by showing me this cruel world
Oh, my dreams are yours, safe by your heart
where they can't ever die
and when the river freezes and the cherries lose their leaves
I'll still be alive

Oh Baby Georgia's a place that lives in our heart
like Willougby, K-PAX, and Love
so show me the way so I can escape
and where all my dreams can grow up
before I fade away into a grave
and take with me this
spirit Georgia.

ARM’D year! year of the struggle!
No dainty rhymes or sentimental love verses for you, terrible year!
Not you as some pale poetling, seated at a desk, lisping cadenzas
