Spinning Wheel Poem by Liilia Talts Morrison

Spinning Wheel

Spinning wheel, spinning wheel
whirring memories of yore
fading sunlight on the door
darkened rafters, earthen floor
needlework put in the drawer

Spinning wheel, spinning wheel
I was young once, laces wore
found a lad whom I adored
danced until we almost soared
then one night my heart he tore

Spinning wheel, spinning wheel
whirring memories of yore
days gone past forgotten lore
eyes a'welling must ignore
teardrops on the earthen floor.
