Speak My Mind Poem by Marcquiese Burrell

Speak My Mind

So just because of my position, i should play the submissive role
I don't think so, whether you believe it or not, i am a equal
Yeah, I guess i'm too much for you to handle
Must overwhelm you that i am just a handful

bet you, you thought, i won't talk back
you feeling like you came under a attack
that's usually the case with fragile egos
feeling you don't measure up, got you feeling low

you for sure ain't confident to me
anytime you want control over me
This will be a challenge, you have no authority
I meant everything I said, you'll get no apology

so i'm to not have an opinion?
Suppose to sit, look cute and listen
say whatever, nothing about your views will change
You can keep on talking, frankly, i ain't hear a thing

You base your views on stereotypes
Societies painted image is what the media hypes
where everyone is amazed and give you praise
but if i do the same, a few eyebrows will raise

understand that i respect my worth
which is all important to me and comes first
you won't be the last to walk this earth
who lives their lives as if it were rehearsed
