Sound Advice Poem by Dr John Celes

Sound Advice

You give your best you can
To every other man,
For though God made all well,
This world at times seems hell!

You learn to share excess
With poor, who need caress,
And give your love to those,
To strangers, far and close.

You love the world around
And keep your mind, heart sound,
For love can heal a wound,
Defying cure, when found.

You show the child unborn
The blessed dawn of morn,
And Nature’s lovely things,
God made for paupers, kings.

You clothe the naked one,
Who lives in rain and sun,
And give him food to eat,
And bathe him tidy, neat.

You speak kind words that soothe,
Not’ take a tooth for tooth’;
Violence begets violence,
And leads to more nonsense.

You spread the Word of God,
Although it may look odd,
As God expects from us
This work divine sans fuss.

You make your life on earth
To glorify your birth,
For we are special pots,
Not worthless dust or dots.

You came with heaven’s light
To improve others’ plight,
And not for selfish gains
Nor inflict wounds of pains.

You are so lucky man;
God gave you good life span
To sow seeds on good soil
And burn the midnight oil.
