Soulless Sun Poem by Melati Hussein

Soulless Sun

The sky was clear, blue, blue, blue
With a boasting sun that screamed
I am perfect, I give light, I give heat

And all the while
The frost was there in the shade
The cold riding the breeze

At night the moon came full
Shedding silver on lovers and losers
Hearts shattering with lust and emptiness

I howled for you
And when there was no reply
I merely howled for myself

A lifeless moon laughing
A soulless sun hidden until dawn
Life circling itself, rusty and forlor
