Sonnet: The World Nowadays Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: The World Nowadays

The rich are turning richer day by day;
A cruel world, the innocents must face;
The poor are poorer living in dismay;
A corrupt world remains corrupt always.

Commands of God are seldom carried out;
Terrorists, extremists are sprouting fast;
Unfairness happens in a wrestling bout;
Sincerity has gone into the past.

The business class is greedy for money;
For now, more truth is hidden amidst laws;
Adulteration spares not ev’n honey;
Though fed, the crocodiles have open jaws!

Huge sums are siphoned off in dubious ways;
An unfair world keeps wearing mask on face.
