Sonnet: The Helper Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: The Helper

The help you'd rendered while I was the dean,
Was perfect almost without any fault;
For that, they'd changed you, matter rather mean;
They thought, they gave the dean a mighty jolt!

You kept me very safe and served me well;
Most trouble-makers kept away therefore;
Things went on smoothly, without chaos, hell;
With eagle eyes, you kept watch o'er the door!

I shifted you to better place when came
The chance to keep you off the dirty world;
You work now with no one to ever blame,
Avoiding uncouth words that people hurled.

I thank you from my heart for duty done;
You were a person good akin a nun!
