Sonnet Of Us (For Lauren Dunnam) Poem by Darren Tyler Howard

Sonnet Of Us (For Lauren Dunnam)

Every time I say your name, my heart skips
Every time I look at you, I 'just smile'
Then your eyes remind me what is worthwhile
Darkness is brightened and burdens eclipsed.

For my world rests at the touch of your lips.
And Heavenly thoughts begin to compile
Whenever I sit - and smile at your smile
Let's live in these moments, before time slips.

No time is greater than time spent with you
And I just want more time, more days, and more nights
To hold you close, and to kiss you goodnight.
Can this be 'Us' instead of me or you?
My heart is whole when our hands intertwine
So now I'm asking, Can I call you mine?

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
A sonnet written for the woman that makes my struggles have hope. She makes me better than I am on my own. This isn't my style: I'm more of a realist than romantic, but I think I may love her.
