Sonnet: My Thanksgiving To God Poem by Dr John Celes

O God, I render gratitude to Thee
For everything You’ve done for me on earth,
And making me a human being free,
By love divine, and caring since my birth.

By name, You called me sweetly when in womb
Of mother, chosen rightly by Your grace,
And guided me all life until my tomb,
Ensuring success in my earthly race.

You wrote my name upon Your palm and saw
My heart afilled by love for Thee always,
And helped me keep the righteous road and law,
And walked beside me in my earthly days.

O God of love, I thank You for my birth,
Your plans for my progress, eternal mirth.
