Sonnet: Man’s Works Could Spell His Doom Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: Man’s Works Could Spell His Doom

Man’s every action’s fraught with dangers more
Than Nature’s furies threaten him at times;
All human ventures are unsafe to core;
Disasters happen almost in all climes.

Man’s inventions are causing ruin fast;
His works have brought extinction of species;
Though Nature destroys, as proved in the past,
Its checks and balances can never cease.

Man’s curiosity, research in science,
Has unseen dangers that could spell his doom;
And man who has forgotten conscience
Has curses, punishments that seem to loom.

Align with Nature, if man can just do,
He surely can postpone his waterloo.
