Sonnet I Poem by Juan Olivarez

Sonnet I

she is the fairest of the fair,
In the early morning light.
A radiant Goddess without compare,
With nary a flaw nor blight.
So like the Helen of days gone by,
Standing on that Trojan shore,
Staring out to sea bringing forth sighs,
Surrounded in legend, and in lore.
And her heart is mine, won long ago,
She smiles that perfect smile for me.
That angelic face, that radiant glow,
That soul that sets my spirit free.
And by her side you may be sure, forever I'll remain.
In brightest day in blackest night, in sunshine and in rain.
