Sonnet: Honesty’s The Best Policy Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: Honesty’s The Best Policy

I want to live an honest life on earth;
I tried my best but uphill seemed the task;
A truthful life was habit since my birth;
But under dishonesty’s sun, most bask!

A truthful life can lead to happiness;
Straight-forwardness is easy to live by;
To dishonest means, many gain access;
The goal of sincerity then does die!

The world of imperfection lures most men;
Short-cuts in life give mirth that’s transient;
The joy of honesty is like heaven;
Untruthfulness makes one incontinent.

To lead an honest life is tough at times;
But truth prevails no matter what the climes!
