Sonnet Poem by Paul Clement Czaja

Sonnet

If I myself forget my self and dare
To hope to live again- to rise above
Vain dreams that seem so good yet only care
For me. If I dare shout that God is love,
Is life, is joy, is all that's good, that's true -
And dare to tell the world that I shall live -
Shall live my life in giving love to you -
That from this day I only live to give.
If then the night so nicely answers me
With bashful blush and rush of hopeful dawn,
And even winter at such call can be
So coaxed so soon to bring a spring like morn,
May I not hope you too will understand
That what I do is my own soul's command?
