Sonnet # 15 Poem by Edwina Reizer

Sonnet # 15

Rating: 0.5

To love one so completely is to know
eternal ecstasy.
To deny oneself this love of another
is mortal agony.
And so I give of myself in my every breath
this love I have for you.
I expect nothing in return for this.
I am owed nothing by you.
I get up each day with a quickening heart
and accept what life will bring me.
I make no excuses for this love I feel,
no excuses for loving thee.
When death comes and extinguishes my breath
I will welcome my death.
For then and only then will my love fade from view.
But, I alone, will still feel it alive
in all my remembrances of you.
