Sonnet # 14 Poem by John A. Hancock

Sonnet # 14

Cursed be this loneliness
A never ending starless night
A canopy of darkness doth cover
The joyful days of life
Hours be like days to me
Time stand'th still
The nights pass slowly by
My only wish yet unfullfill'd
It be a simple wish for thyself
Tis not more than any other man
To be graced with a love of a woman
That would love me for who I am
Love hath been so hard to find
With this lonely heart of mind
