Sonnet 11 Poem by Ahmad Shiddiqi

Sonnet 11

Rating: 5.0

how you can lend yourself like this?
carved by an artist from the amethyst
Aung San Suu Kyi felt the blood pounding
as she looked at the war verse without blinking

gangs of pale children were following the meteor
in Bangkok, you listened to the cry of the vendor
until black parrot learned to speak Spanish
that was a brilliant singing in a soprano's voice

they started in a puerile inspiration
still moist with a tender care
that was like being reborn of attention
a growing scandal became more easy to bear
the wise decision was a strong infusion
no secret could be kept long for sure
