Sonnet 1 Poem by Biwot Kevin

Sonnet 1

Rating: 0.5

When thoughts have but my young mind possessed
When I muse with admiration for such a sight
When I worship the beauty in which you are dressed
When I mistake the day but for the night
For you like a star shining in the dark set
Does outdo the sun and grieves the moon
When tears turn my heart and eyes wet
For I knew I’ll never win your love soon
For like a scent now smelt but next ‘tis lost
Or like dew now present but next ‘tis evaporated
Or like water now flowing but next ‘tis frost
Is the way winning you is complicated
For if this love that am holding you’d see
Your heart from your chest would embrace me
